Annemarie Poorterman

Annemarie has experience leading strategic innovation in social systems, with a focus on social structures that create the conditions for societal change. She is an experienced programme manager, executive, advisor, partnership broker, facilitator and coach, and works closely with governments, organisations, and teams to design and enact the change they are looking to make in the world.
Annemarie is with VLF as a secondment from CHÔRA Design, where she designs and manages strategic projects for clients such as the UNDP, Canadian Government and MOTI Foundation (Netherlands), and progresses CHÔRA’s offerings towards social resilience and the social contract She also serves as Director on the Management Board of CHÔRA Foundation.
Annemarie has worked across the humanitarian and development sector for organisations including the (International) Red Cross, Start Network and the HALO Trust. There, she focused on creating new (pooled) funding mechanisms (global, Bangladesh), including mechanisms that introduced anticipatory financing. She also led the incubation and collaboration of five civil society networks (in India, Pakistan, Fiji, Guatemala and the DRC) and collectives to design socially relevant, structural change initiatives.
