Diana Rodríguez Franco
Exploration question
How can we make care visible, comprehensible, and recognized as essential social infrastructure, and use this moment of AI to elevate caregiving as a cornerstone of human development, so that supporting caregivers and those requiring care becomes as natural and broadly supported as prioritizing technology, housing, or transportation?
Diana is an economist, lawyer, and sociologist working to make care visible, valued, and central to development. As Special Advisor on Gender and Diversity to the President of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, she advances equality and inclusion across Latin America and the Caribbean. Before joining the IDB, Diana served as Bogotá’s Secretary for Women’s Affairs, where she conceived and led the internationally recognized Care Blocks (Manzanas del Cuidado) a pioneering model that brings integrated services to caregivers and care receivers, and places care at the heart of cities and urban planning. She previously served as Deputy Director of Dejusticia, a leading human rights and rule-of-law organization in Colombia. A mother of two, Diana’s work is shaped by the constant effort to level the playing field across social, gender, and human rights dimensions.
