Fernanda Bastos

Exploration question

How can sharing experiences through literature and other arts enhance children and caregivers’ wellbeing? How can arts help to encourage communication and the sharing of stories to support caregivers in the process of early years education?

Fernanda is a journalist, poet, translator and publisher. In 2018, along with literary critic Luiz Mauricio Azevedo, she co-founded Figura de Linguagem, an award-winning publishing house, focused on marginalised voices.

In 2022 and 2023, she co-curated the Internacional Literary Party of Paraty – Flip, the largest literary festival in Brazil. She holds a master’s degree in communications and is the author of three volumes of poetry and a collection of essays.

She is also the mother of Francisco, a curious and bright black boy who inspires her to work for a world free of any form of prejudice and inequality.
