What is the role of bedtime stories and lullabies shared with young children in addressing and transmitting transgenerational traumas? How can these narratives shape emotional resilience and identity formation in early childhood?
Loaay is a Minerva Postdoctoral Fellow affiliated with EUME at the Forum Transregionale Studien and the Freie Universität in Berlin. His research focuses on socio-political themes in Palestinian and Israeli children’s literature.
He completed his PhD at Tel Aviv University, focusing on the sociology of Palestinian children’s literature. Loaay is the editor of the Hkaya journal, dedicated to Arabic children’s and young adult literature and culture.
He is also a member of the Maktoob translators’ circle, which is devoted to translating literary works from Arabic to Hebrew. In 2024, he published his first children’s book in Arabic, Salman the Pirate in Search of Shirts, as part of the Maktabat al-Fanoos project.
