Around 15,000 Syrian refugee children aged 0 to 3 live in Azraq town and neighbouring Azraq refugee camp.
In partnership with Civic in Azraq, Jordan, we explore how the response to the Syrian refugee crisis can better meet the particular needs of young children and families. These four short films highlight aspects of the challenge: the lack of play areas, difficulties in getting around safely, limited availability of health services and the need for more kindergartens.
Play Areas
Young children in Azraq explain what a difference it makes to them to have a playground – a space specifically for them.
Mobility
Residents of Azraq draw attention to the dangerous roads and lack of pedestrian walkways, which pose dangers to young children.
Access to Services
Families with young children explain the challenge of accessing health services in Azraq.
Kindergartens
Young children share their experiences of kindergarten in Azraq.
