The Lancet is launching a new Early Childhood Development Series, highlighting scientific evidence for early childhood interventions and proposing pathways to scale.
The Series stresses the high cost of inaction – an estimated 250 million children aged under five are now at risk of suboptimal development – and the need to support families to provide nurturing care from the very start of a child’s life. Case studies from diverse regions explore how government leadership can successfully scale up proven interventions.
You can download the eight-page executive summary or bullet-point core messages, or find the full papers at www.thelancet.com/series/ECD2016. You can also watch the launch online from Washington DC on Wednesday October 5 at 18:00 UTC (14:00 EDT, 20:00 CEST).
