The impacts of Covid-19 on child development are explored in five videos and a Working Paper (in Portuguese) produced by Núcleo Ciência Pela Infância (NCPI), a partner of the Bernard van Leer Foundation in Brazil.
The NCPI brings together Brazilian researchers from varied areas including medicine, nursing, neuroscience, psychology, economics, public policies and education. Its goal is to increase scientific knowledge about early childhood and strengthen programmes and policies.
Four of the videos feature short interviews with researchers:
A working paper, Repercussões da Pandemia de COVID-19 no Desenvolvimento Infantil, explores in more detail the pandemic’s repercussions on children, family life, and public policies in health, education, community and social security.
These topics are further debated in a fifth video, a webinar with researchers Anna Maria Chiesa, Maria Beatriz Linhares and Naercio Menezes Filho.
Alongside the Bernard van Leer Foundation, the NCPI comprises Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child and David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, Fundação Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal, Insper, and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of São Paulo.
