Whether making policies for a nation or a village, this guide explains both why and how policymakers and practitioners can put young children first. It covers integrated policies and vital services to promote early child development, covering six key policy sectors: health, nutrition, education, social protection, urban planning, and labour and employment.
This guide was primarily designed for policymakers because with the right support, governments can help babies and toddlers reach their full potential.
The guide is divided into three parts:
- Part one describes key programmes and services across multiple sectors that are needed to support early childhood development.
- Part two lists key lessons to draw from successful integrated policies and explores them in action, using case studies from around the world.
- Part three provides a list of extra resources including further reading, data sources and tools to help with measuring and scaling interventions.
