Game as a Tool – Good Urban Planning Practices for the Early Childhood

A game that aims to get players involved in planning find solutions to problems associated with early childhood.

In Brazil’s small and medium-sized cities and the vulnerable regions of large urban centres, we find a lack of planning that take into account the specific characteristics of each place and the needs of early childhood. In a playful format suitable for activities involving children, this game can be used with public managers and organisations looking to find solutions to problems associated with early childhood. The game is based on urban design solutions based on standards, technical knowledge and empirical experiences in the Brazilian context, as well as the directives of the Urban95 agenda.

When a public space encourages people to socialise, it is very common for activities to arise spontaneously organised by residents or groups from the neighbourhood – a picnic, a get-together with friends, a walk with the children, reading books and even outdoor birthdays.
