Mialy Dermish

Representative Global Displacement

Mialy Dermish is the Foundation’s Global Representative on Displacement. She was previously the Executive Director of the SIRIUS Policy Network on Migrant Education, where she still engages as an education specialist, and she has also worked as an education specialist with the UNHCR’s European Union office in Brussels.

Mialy has been a preschool teacher in Hong Kong, an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teacher for refugees and migrants in London, conducted research and advocacy campaigns on topics such as supporting parents and girls education, and started her own non-profit to fund youth projects in Madagascar. Mialy holds an M.Ed in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE).

As the mother of three, Mialy believes it is only a matter of time until we see a world that better caters to our hyper-mobilised ways of living, and the challenges and demands it places on families and children.
