The Pune Municipal Corporation is responsible for initiating, identifying, and approving sites or projects to be made Infant, Toddler and Caregiver-friendly (ITC). This document can be used to identify the appropriate spaces, activites, required material list and design principles for any given project site to make it safe, accessible, inclusive, playful and green. It includes Rapid Behavioral Assessment findings from the city of Pune outlining infrastructure, behaviour challenges and a checklist of ITC elements. There are five ITC learning case studies from cities around the world showcasing public spaces that supports the well-being of babies and toddlers.
To create an active neighbourhood, placing open public spaces in between built environment of the neighbourhood can create a creative and active playscape for a playful and safe experience for young children while adding to their Early Childhood Development and overall quality of life in the neighbourhood.
