Parenting: How Home Visiting Practices in Brazil Adapted to the Pandemic

These resources capture insights and stories from the Parenting Award, which recognised 100 inspiring home visitors across Brazil.

Due to sanitary restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, home visitors and family support professionals from all over Brazil had to innovate and adapt practices to provide continued support to families, and connect them with institutional resources to help address diverse needs.

In 2020, to shine a light on good practices emerging from the pandemic, we partnered with the Maria Cecilia Vidigal Foundation to institute the Parenting Award in 2020, which recognised 100 inspiring home visiting practices across the country.

Such programmes start to play an even more relevant role during the pandemic, as there is evidence that the social isolation measures, school closings, and the increased unemployment and cases of domestic violence that are part of this moment of crisis can have extremely negative repercussions on children’s behaviour and development.

Video Series
