Meet four-year-old Jhazmín. She lives in the Belén neighbourhood of Iquitos, in the Amazon region of Peru. They live in a house on stilts because every year the river floods and they have to get around by boat. She likes school, but likes playing soccer even more.
There are sloths (the “pelejos”), choro monkeys, toucans (they are called “pinchas”), boas and anacondas. There is also a jaguar. And an anteater, which is called “chigüi”. The “pelejos” move soooo slowly and hug children and adults because they are the most tender.
This story is part of the ‘Children of the World’ book series, published together with Chilean partner JUNJI (the National Board of Kindergartens).
This book series offers a glimpse into the early years of children in six countries around the world.
